Location: John Hancock Center, 875 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago

Chicago Hancock Observatory offers a phenomenal bird’s eye view of the Windy City at the heart of famous Michigan Avenue. Get the chance to go where only birds dare at the tip top of the John Hancock Center. Soar 1,000 above the world famous “Magnificent Mile” and watch the people scurry about like ants.

Once the elevator reaches the top floor, the heavens seem to open up as the gorgeous city of Chicago rests below your feet. If you are wondering, “just how windy is the Windy City,” then take a step outside onto the open-air Skywalk, the highest viewing deck in the city. Take a close up view of the city with one of the many available telescopes located high up in the clouds. While you’re swinging in the sky, take an opportunity to learn about the Windy City and the Hancock Observatory itself.

Kids love the “Picture Yourself” exhibit, where you can become part of the construction crew as they erected the skyscraper or a window washer hanging in front of the endless glass of “Big John.” Splurge for a Sky Tour, an audio headset that give you the insider’s peek of the city skyline and the monumental building.
