 Chicago Columbus Park

Chicago Columbus Park is one of the jewels in the city’s crown. This historical green space was designed by the famous landscape designer, Jens Jensen. Known as the father of the Prairie style in the landscape world, Jensen’s beautiful park is one of the favorite places in the Windy City.

The waterfalls blend harmoniously with the carefully placed ferms, trees, and plants. Two small streams feed these man made waterfalls and provide a bit of coolness on a hot Chicago day. The park itself is over 140 acres of land and encompasses many athletic areas, favored by visitors and residents alike. The park’s most famous feature is the public golf course.

Players of all ages can hit the links to drive, chip, and putt their way into the history of the game. Ball fields also provide an athletic outlet for players of all ages with energy to burn. It is no wonder why Columbus Park is a favorite of kids far and wide.

Be sure to check out the park’s calendar of events to find what is going on during your visit. The outdoor theatre often produces family friendly performances. Additionally the area known as Council Ring provides an excellent place for storytellers to weave their magical tales.
