 Chicago Grant Park

Chicago Grant Park is situated between the shores of Lake Michigan and the famous ""Magnificent Mile"" and proves to be one of the highlights of the city. The grounds itself are quite historical, as they came about after the city’s Great Fire.

After the fire, the debris was pushed into the lake, creating a new parcel of land. Famous Chicagoan Montgomery Ward lobbied for this area to be made a park, and after much arguing, the decision was made in his favor.

The center of today’s park is an enormous fountain fashioned after one in the palace of Versailles. The best time to check out this beautiful fountain is after dark, when the choreographed colored lights provide a new shimmer to the fountain.

Grant Park is home to many festivals and special events for the city of Chicago. Be sure to check out their calendar of events to find out what is going on during your visit to the Windy City.

Kids love the opportunity to play in this beautiful green space modeled after a traditional French city park. The great outdoors proves to be a beautiful breather for the hustle and bustle of city life. Whether it’s a picnic or a full day in the sun, make this historic park part of your Chicago trip.
