Chicago Lincoln Park lies in the Northwest corner of the Windy City. Most often known as the home to the city’s zoo, this park is a staple part of Chicago. The park originally was a cemetery dating back to the 1850s, but the graves were moved to other parts of the city starting in the late 1880s. Now expanded to a tremendous 1,208 acres, the park has been shaped over the years by many individuals, but namely landscape designers Ossian Cole Simonds and Alfred Caldwell.
These two landscape design giants have worked the massive green space into a lovely park through use of natural elements. The sculptures dotting the park create a unique space and are definitely a must see!
Spending a day in Lincoln Park is fun for the entire family! Whether you are at the zoo or the conservatory, there is fun for all ages. The green space in itself is absolutely gorgeous for spending an old fashioned day walking, running, or playing through the park.
The plants that make up the conservatory are sure to delight visitors of all ages, as tropical inhabitants survive the cold Chicago winters within the safe walls of the park’s historic conservatory.
