This three Story McDonald’s on steroids was designed to impress and also to be a tourist spot. That’s right, a McDonald’s designed for trip memory scrapbooks. While we do not advocate fast-food (if you are indeed a fan you’ll love this next place) but this 3-story McDonald’s restaurant is unlike any fast-food joint you’ve ever seen thus making it a "must see" on our Chicago attractions list. Most McDonald’s restaurants have seating for 100 or less but this 24,000-square-foot restaurant seats up to 300 people and not in typical McDonald’s fashion but in surroundings designed to make you feel as if you’re at home.
The first floor of the restaurant is called the kitchen with the normal fast seating turnover. The order counter has ten register stations rather than the typical four or five. The second floor houses a dining room, living room and family room, where one can relax and watch television, use a wireless Internet hookup or, believe it or not, hold a business meeting in the conference room.
This McDonald’s has also the first, and only that we know of, two-lane drive-through and trash cans placed throughout the restaurant have "thank you" engraved on them in 10 distinct languages. The restaurant really has a coffee-shop atmosphere making it more of a tourist spot than your average fast-food joint.
