Chicago Lakefront (Fullerton Ave., North Ave. and Oak St. Beach)
The 47th Annual Chicago Air and Water Show is another neck-cranking world premier aviation event in the sky and on Chicago’s magnificent lakefront. The free event will astound millions of spectators along the Lakefront. The water part of the show splashes off at 9am. Feature highlights include the U.S. Army Golden Knights Parachute Team.
They will be performing unusually high altitude plunges into Lake Michigan. (The best place to experience the aquatic phenomenon is on North Avenue Beach). At 11am you’ll need a comfortable chair to watch U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds and F16 Fighting Falcons soar at amazing speeds during their awe-inspiring maneuvers.
The close ranges of these aerodynamic stunts are as close as 18 inches apart. The US Navy’s Blue Angels will present a hair raising performance of their critically-acclaimed 6-jet delta formation.
The United States military will not be the only performers putting on a dazzling show. The Liquid X Freestyle extreme water show will start the spectacle of festivities promptly at 9am both days. Other civilian lineups are Lima Lima Flight Team, Red Baron Pizza Squadron, the AeroShell Aerobatic Team, Red Bull MIG Magic and Sean D. Tucker and Team Oracle.
Event Tip: For a close-up view of the air and water adventures, don’t forget to bring your binoculars.
