The Chicago Blues Festival is set to roll beginning June 8th and you are in for one great event when you attend. Celebrate the tradition of the blues and its icons as you hear music originated by Robert Johnson and Bessie Smith. Explore the deep history as well as the present rejuvenation of this art form as its brightest stars perform for you.
You’ll find the St. Louis blues and the Delta blues too. June means Chicago is the Mecca for blues aficionados and those who just want to hear some good music. Look for Saffire: the Uppity Blues Women, as well as Jam Station, Elvin Bishop, Eddie Bo, Lil Ray and Deitra Farr, among others.
On Saturday, join in the birthday party for Howlin’ Wolf at the Route 66 Roadhouse, and make sure the kids get to see Zydeco Joe and Terry Harmonica Bean, to give them an appreciation of cool music and how it gets made. Plenty of dancing will be danced, music appreciated and fun had. Round up your crew and get to the blues festival. You’ll be downright happy you did.
