Celtic Fest Chicago 2005 is calling all brave hearts and Celtic enthusiasts to bring family and friends with or without a kilt to experience the festivities of this annual event. For the 9th year in a row, the free festival will be a host of innumerous live Irish and Scottish performances from around the world.
To plan your itinerary accordingly, you may want to check the performance schedules of Rachel Barton with the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra, Different Drums of Ireland with The Trinity Irish Dancers, Baka Beyond, Liz Carroll, Moore & Broaders, Brock McGuire Band, Navan, The Tannahill Weavers,Old Blind Dogs, The David Munnelly Band, Chicago Rovers, Kathy Cowan and other prestigious Celtic bands.
The Celtic Fest Chicago will be another opportunity for attendees to find cherished items to add to their collections of authentic Scottish and Irish goods: hand-crafted jewelry, stunning hand-knit Irish wool sweaters, gift novelties, artwork of various mediums and much more. For the kids, there is a wooly-fun sheepherding demonstration. It runs from 2pm at Butler Field each day of the festival.
To get in the spirit of the event, the Céilí Dance Tent is a quick and easy way to learn traditional dance in the Gathering Tent. Not to mention, there’s also the Scottish athletic competition of caber tossing. Jig your way over to the dance stage where the Highland and Irish step dancing will be the center of attraction. To a break away from the hustle and bustle of the fair, be sure to stop by the coffee and tea garden.
Event Tip: For an easy and close place to park your car, be sure to use the lower Grant Parking Garage located off of Columbus and Randolph.
