Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) brings Disney’s Aladdin, an enchanting adaptation of the 1992 animated film to the stage, continuing CST’s tradition of bringing family-friendly theater to Navy Pier all summer long.
Directed by Devanand Janki and complete with Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice’s original songs, including “A Whole New World” and “Friend Like Me”, Disney’s Aladdin brings the movie’s unforgettable characters to life in a fun-filled musical for the entire family. Performances of Disney’s Aladdin are scheduled July 1, 2009 through August 30, 2009 in the Courtyard Theater.
Clever street urchin Aladdin gets locked in a cave when he is accused of kidnapping the beautiful Princess Jasmine. But with one rub of a magical lamp, a fun-loving, wise-cracking Genie appears and helps Aladdin escape just in time to save the princess and the kingdom from the villainous Jafar. Disney’s Aladdin is an exciting musical adventure full of unforgettable songs, lovable characters and a timeless message of friendship and the importance of staying true to oneself.
Disney’s Aladdin is recommended for ages 5 and up with performances scheduled July 1, 2009 through August 30, 2009 in the Courtyard Theater. Performances are at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday – Saturday with 2:00 p.m. performances Thursday – Sunday. Tickets are $18 for children (12 and younger), and $23 for adults with special discounts available for groups of 10 or more.
