River Flatwater Classic Paddle & Pedal

The 6th annual Chicago River Flatwater Classic Paddle & Pedal features the best way to enjoy the authentic architecture and water fun. How many pedals and paddles does it take to go downstream from Clark Park to Ping Tom Memorial Park? Come one come all kayakers, canoeists and bicyclists to track the 7.25 mile paddling/peddling extravaganza.

Ideal for racing enthusiasts to families, The Chicago River features a perfect course for all skill levels. From easy currents to deep course, the Flatwater Classic accommodates all levels of canoeists, kayakers, and bicyclists with its 28 classes. (At an average paddling speed, the course should take roughly two hours).

The Flatwater Classic will feature both competitive and non-competitive

opportunities for paddling as well as bicycling. If the different perspective of the city does not capture your attention, corporate teams are offered through the Corporate Voyageur Heat. Individuals will be grouped in teams of two or nine. For the adventurous who prefers to enjoy the excursion by land, bicyclists can participate by riding along the bike rout.

Event tips: Prior to start time, participants are asked to arrive with their boats one hour earlier. Plan between 10-20 minutes to pass through the launch line. A complimentary shuttle bus service will run every 30 minutes-from 11:30am until 5pm (from the finish line back to the starting point).
