Sue, the world’s largest, most complete and best preserved Tyrannosaurus Rex, has found a permanent home at Chicago’s Field Museum, where she has lived since the exhibit opened in 2000…and your family won’t want to miss visiting this amazing exhibit.
Archeologists don’t really know if Sue is male or female, but they do know that when dinosaurs walked the earth, Sue ruled! If you visit the exhibit, you’ll be able to examine her fossilized bones, her bird-like feet and her massive legs. You’ll be surprised at her graceful tail and you’ll be able to count every one of her razor-sharp teeth and powerful jaws…and this isn’t a plaster cast or plastic model. This T. Rex is the real thing…so that’s why her nearly perfect skull is separately displayed. Because it’s too heavy to be mounted on her skeleton.
The Field Museum also offers a variety of other exhibits to tell more about Sue, inside and out, including touchable casts of selected bones, animated CT images of her skull, video clips telling how Sue was discovered…and much, much more…so plan your visit so you’ll have plenty of time to get to know Sue. You may find she’s your favorite new best friend!
