That’s Weird, Grandma is a new evening of short plays by Chicago Public School students in grades three through six. You can surely imagine the fun that results! The plays are performed by a troupe of adult hipsters, providing a madcap hour with wide appeal.
While the budget is low, the result is enviable—and sure to be a winner with you and your kids. While it’s just a happy coincidence that adults will enjoy this show, it’s certainly a great reason to go. How often do you get to participate in a kids’ program that is actually fun for you, too? Take advantage of the fact and go see this weekly-on-Monday-night show.
That’s Weird, Grandma constantly evolves and switching two or three sketches based on audience voting. So you could attend several times and never see the same show twice—another feature adding to the show’s distinct appeal. You’ll see such song and dance presentations as The Woman Rampage and Stupid.
The process here is unique; the ensemble of performers teaches the kids creative writing, then adapts the results for the stage. The result is a family-oriented show, safe for all ages and highly entertaining to boot.
